THE INTRODUCTION OF ZHULINSHAN GUANYIN TEMPLE


Zhulinshan Guanyin Temple is located in the district Linkou of New Taipei City. In the 3th year of Chienlung(A.D. 1738), the immigrants from Quanzhou brought over Eighteen hands Guanyin, the split of the Guanyin from Anhai Lungshan Temple located at Jinjiang of Fujian. At the early stages, since these immigrants were few and poor, Eighteen hands Guanyin was brought over to stay at believer’s house for four or six months until A.D. 1938.

In the 13th of Showa year(A.D. 1938), Zhulinshan Guanyin Temple, the Japanese architectural style was constructed in Linkou, and completed in the 14th of Showa(A.D. 1939). After Japan withdraws from Taiwan, In the 37th of republic(A.D. 1948), a new temple of traditional Chinese architectural style was rebuilt, and completed in the 38th of republic (A.D. 1949). In addition to the Guanyin, the temple also sacrifices Manjusri, Samantabhadra, Kuan Kung, Celestial Holy Mother, the Empress of Child-Bearing, the Emperor Shen-Nong, Confucius, Futeh the Land God, Marshal Xuantan, and Ksitigarbha.

Today, a spectacular building, Zhulinshan Guanyin Temple, was rebuilt in the 89th of republic(A.D. 2000)., and completed in the 101th of republic (A.D. 2012). 38 huge trees of Taiwan Cypress, many bluestones and glazed roof tiles was be used in buildings.
Being masterpiece of traditional Chinese architecture and a well-established Buddhist temple in New Taipei, the Zhulinshan Guanyin Temple has become a center of people’s religious life and a heritage of local culture in Taiwan. In this way, the temple is used not only for promoting Buddhism, but also for enriching the daily lives of people.
